The Taiwanese Human Rights Association of Canada (加拿大台灣人權協會) was organized in 1991 to expand and continue the work of the 1989 Yih-Sheh Leo Support Committee. THRAC works for human rights in Taiwan, China, and Canada.

THRAC President Michael Stainton wrote to Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Security, about Bill C-23 (Preclearance Bill 2016) which would give American border officials wide powers in airports - on Canadian soil.

THRAC writes to Iceland Embassy about making Taiwanese student "stateless"

Responding to a report in the Taipei Times on November 20 "Student rails against ‘stateless’ ID" http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/front/archives/2016/11/20/2003659621

THRAC President Michael Stainton wrote to the Embassy of Iceland in Canada, calling on them to recognize that people from Taiwan are Taiwanese, not Chinese or "stateless".
